Interests & Hobbies

Top notch quality food and drink! Sports-wise, I’m a Gloucester Rugby fan and can often be found at Cheltenham on race days too.  Also, I’m a huge radio anorak, I can often be found ‘anoraking’ with Jerry Hipkiss.

Musical Background / History

How did it all begin for me in radio? I went along to open day at a radio station years ago, basically saw what was going on and thought ‘I’d quite like to do this!’.  started pestering many radio station bosses and got work experience, then worked my way up doing things from button pushing, answering calls, making the tea, producing and eventually presenting. As well as working at GFM, I work for the BBC and crop up all over the place. I can also be heard on your television, I’m a continuity announcer too- most recently on Living TV. I also worked for the Olympic Broadcasting Services at the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games, I was right in the heart of the stadium during all the ceremonies. Next stop Sochi 2014?

How did you get involved in GFM?

I used to listen when GFM were doing the 28-day RSL broadcasts, I liked what I was listening to and found it different to what the other stations were offering. I sent a dodgy demo in and was welcomed into the GFM family a week later.

I started as a ‘Community Reporter; this involved going out and interviewing people on various topics for the Community Link Show as well as setting up the GFM Local news team. In 2008, I was offered the afternoon slot and the rest they say is history.

Achievements

I have managed to work with some of the best broadcasters in the business and interviewed some fantastic people over the years from Danny De Vito [He’s tiny!] to Rachael Stevens.
My achievement for 2013 is I’m running in the Virgin 2013 London Marathon for BBC Children in Need, it’s going to be a challenge! I worked for BBC Radio 5 Live at the last marathon and thought I liked to attempt

Musical Aspirations

To continue making great radio…

Most influential tracks

I’ve been told I can only write three down, this is very hard.

Track 1:  Loose Ends – Hanging On A String [Frankie Knuckles Remix]

Track 2: Nu Shooz – I Can’t Wait

Track: Michael Jackson – Billie Jean
