How did you get involved in GFM?

I have my personal interest in live broadcast. I was presenting a small part (women’s discussion of BBCC radio Gloucestershire’s Asian programme. I started presenting GFM Awaz (Asian programme) when 1st time ever it was on air on Gloucester. I did my training for presenting live broadcast and then again in 2004 I was with GFM presenting Milap.

Achievements

I enjoyed and developed my interest and skill in broadcasting through working with BBC and GFM. My real achievements are my children. Though I have won three national awards for the research I initiated and was key organiser for the unique local project “ Our Untold Stories “. Through our untold stories research I have tried to preserve the great cultural diversity of Gloucestershire, which benefits all who live here. I view this as one of the most worthwhile things I have ever done. I am a charted Librarian with BA & MA degree in the management of libraries.

Musical Aspirations

My interest in music and arts inspired me to organise many cultures festival annual event Gloucester City Council / Gloucestershire county Council and several other organisations. This has acted as a showcase for the local communities, has promoted diversity and the valuing of cultural identity. I am hoping to carry on this.
