Gloucestershire County Council is braced to deal with snow and ice over the next few days.
Light snow showers have already started to fall across parts of the county, with further expected to arrive from around 6pm tonight.
Temperatures will drop to -6 in parts and more snow is likely to fall tomorrow morning between 6am and 8am.
Gritters are on standby to go out this evening after the snow has fallen as this will have the best effect at preventing ice from forming.
They will also be on standby overnight and throughout tomorrow morning if further runs are needed.
However, with temperatures falling, driving conditions are likely to be hazardous particularly in tomorrow’s early morning rush hour.
Motorists are advised to take extreme care when out on the roads. For winter driving tips visit www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/winter .
While the council will do all it can to keep roads free of ice, residents are being urged to do their bit too.
Last year people were worried about liability issues after clearing ice and snow themselves.
But new guidance from the government on gritting your own driveways and pavements is now available on www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/winter and people are being advised to ensure they’re prepared before bad weather hits.
