The Digital Switchover (Central Region–Ridge Hill Transmitter)

During April (see below) the analogue TV signal from the Ridge Hill Transmitter will be switched off. If you only have analogue TV Services (four or five channels) you will no longer have TV reception.
GloucesterFM Radio (GFM 96.6), as a member of the Community media Association, has been nominated to promote the “Switchover Help Scheme” to help people to switch from Analogue TV to Digital TV
As such information can be found in the following ways:-

There is a banner linking directly to the help scheme website on the home page of our GFM 96.6 website. Just click for more information!

Information slots inviting listeners to become a “Helping Hand” for people who are eligible for the Digital Help Scheme are being played out during advert breaks: Presenters are also reading out information during their shows. Tune into GFM 96.6 for more information

ALSO There will be interviews with people to find out more information. One has already taken place and can be heard by going to our Facebook page “GFM 96.6 GLOUCESTER FM”. Again this can be accessed from a link on the home page of our website

YOU MIGHT ALSO FIND THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION USEFUL

(This is taken from the ‘Digital UK website’ page where you can visit to find out more)

The Ridge Hill transmitter and its 19 relays (known as a transmitter group) switch to digital in two stages.

If you have Sky TV, Freesat from Sky or freesat on all of your TV sets you will not be affected by switchover.

However, if you haven’t yet got digital TV in your home or you have a service like Freeview, BT Vision or Top Up TV, there are two dates you will need to remember and you need to be ready before the first switchover date.

06–04–2011–> If you haven’t switched to digital, you’ll lose BBC Two: If you have Freeview, BT Vision or Top Up TV you’ll need to re-tune your equipment.

20–04–2011–>
If you haven’t switched to digital, you will lose the rest of your TV channels: If you have Freeview, BT Vision or Top Up TV you’ll need to re-tune your equipment again

The digital TV switchover affects any TV not connected to a satellite or cable service
The easiest way to check if a TV is affected is to look for the messages that will appear at the top of your TV screen several times a day.
You won’t see these messages if you already watching digital TV (e.g Sky TV, Freview or another) or if your aerial is pointing at another transmitter that will switch at a different time.
