Forecasters are expecting weather conditions to improve in Gloucestershire over the next few days.
Light snow is expected to fall from 7pm this evening, but only on higher ground above 150metres.
From midnight, any snow is expected to turn to sleet or rain and from tomorrow temperatures are expected to rise to around 3 degrees and to continue to improve over the next week.
To prepare for any snow this evening, Gloucestershire County Council’s gritters will go out at 4pm today on the full primary network – all A and B roads – to top up grit levels from the weekend treatments.
They will also remain on standby should further treatment be necessary.
The 34-strong team were out on the network on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day to help keep the roads free of ice.
However, motorists should continue to exercise extreme care when driving.
REFUSE & RECYCLING
Refuse and recycling collections crews are collecting where it is safe to do so in the city due to compacted snow and ice.
Residents who were due for a collection today are asked to leave their bins out.
Those bins that are missed due to the weather conditions will be collected when safe to do so.
Garden Waste collection will be suspended until further notice.
Normal collections will be restored as soon as weather conditions allow. The situation will be monitored daily and residents will be kept informed
