The Breastfeeding Network (BFN) has been awarded a contract by NHS Gloucestershire to work together with hospital and community midwives based at GRH new women’s unit. The project is lead by Anne-Marie Thomas and Erika Devine and as well as working in two childrens’ centres they and their team also work with mums at home and offer support via phone & text.
The project is called ‘Mama Latte’ and is there for supporting the mothers as well as the babies.
Anne-Marie says “Many mums who want to breastfeed find it all straightforward, but sometimes it can be a bit tricky to start with – and that’s where our team comes in, because we’re all volunteer mums who have breastfed ourselves and who have trained so we can help others enjoy the experience too.”
They offer support to new mothers at their home in Barton, Finlay and Tredworth as well as the group meetings Wednesday afternoons at Bartongate Children’s centre and at The Beacon Children’s Centre, Kingsway on Thursday mornings.
They also have a facebook page which can be accessed here
