All aspects of music, computers, basketball and creating my own things.

I taught myself how to mix 14 years ago aged 8 using a standard Sony stereo deck (no pitch), Aiki Stereo deck and a 3-channel microphone mixer. I fist learnt how to mix using hip hop and drum n bass records. I quickly worked out that pretty much any 2 hip hop and dnb tune can mix together (dnb is 2x hh speed).  This was a great help to me and before long I took full advantage of my 3 mic channels by adding another deck. 3 decks later… and I started to buy the music I grew up on.

Reggae / Ragga played a big part of my musical upbringing. Artists in this genre of music are always trying something new and will use anything. That was the same mentality I picked up for mixing. Using 3 decks I would make my own remixes and mega mixes. Friends with the same love for all aspects of music like me came together and we formed ‘Shatta Crew’. We preformed up and down the UK at all types of events. At the time I was playing ragga / ragga hip hop remixes and was just starting to get good venues / slots. Speed Garage was turning into 2step and the girls loved it, so that was the crowd I wanted to play to.

‘Call it fate or what you want’, but I had nearly all my records stolen and rather than try and rebuild my previous collection, I started fresh with Garage. I haven’t stopped playing it since.

I was originally on GFM in its early days, back in 2000. Previous to this Gloucester only had one decent station, which was a pirate. The pirate thing was good because anything goes, but it was too risky and no DJ wants their records taken off them. When this station was shut down, once again our small but multicultural City had no vibes.

GFM came about as a legal community station pushing for full licensing and asked me if I would like to join the family. I agreed and had some really fun times with the GFM camp. It’s been 5 or more years and its time to have some more fun.

BTEC Music Technology 2y course, Ceed operating studio and Portable recording equipment awards, DJ of the year(Chelt/Glou) award & trophy, Millennium Dome performance, Nottinghill Carnival & Bristol Carnival performance,  Vibes FM, Juice FM (B’ham) and lots of residency’s & club nights.

5 years from now and I still want to be doing everything musically. I would of hope to have raised my status as DJ and have a fair amount of finished projects under my belt. I should be living in another country, socking up the sun with my family. Having my own night club is one of the things I want to accomplish in the future. I want my name to be a household name with good thoughts.

These tracks have been an influence to me whilst playing UKG:

Gabrielle – Roy Davis Jr (made me love UKG)

138 Trek – DJ Zinc (So basic yet so effective, changed the style of UKG)

Eskimo Devils Mix – Wiley (Creation of a whole new sound)

To the Younger's in the game, less of the crime and more of the grime. Don’t go around doing what you listen to in most music. Artists tell story’s to paint pictures of the wrong that they’ve seen growing up. Majority of these artists have never experienced any of the things they say first hand. Remember, its just music to listen too, not to be taken literally. Don’t let a song influence you to do something wrong, be yourself. School and homework first, then make music and spit barz.
