Nine months ago the Friendship Cafe launched this project to give local children a chance to experience pony riding and care.
This project gives those children whose families who cannot afford a large financial outlay to experience the basics of riding and after 10 sessions the trainees can join local stables as volunteers.
As well as being recreational it also builds confidence and help develop multiple skills.
Imran Atcha, coordinator, said that without the input of Gloucestershire County Council Youth Capital Fund and the support of organisations including Fairshares, Hartpury College and Sam Goss Equestrian Centre this valuable opportunity would not have been available. The project now also has the backing of dressage rider Emily Faure.
