A man found lying seriously injured in a Cheltenham street yesterday morning (Saturday Feb 5) has sadly died in hospital. The man, who was 36 and from the local area, died yesterday evening and his next of kin are aware. His death is currently being treated as unexplained, and a Home Office pathologist will be conducting a post mortem examination.
Police continue to appeal for witnesses, and Detective Superintendent Simon Atkinson said they had already received some encouraging calls. He said: “Since we started our investigation yesterday we’ve already had some members of the public come forward with information, which is encouraging.
“We do still require further help though, and I’d ask anyone who saw anything unusual in the area around Pittville and Wellington Lane in the early hours of Saturday, up until 8am when the deceased was found, to ring us.”The deceased was a white man, and was wearing a black Superdry jacket, blue jeans and a green striped shirt.
