A ‘light touch’ approach to ticketing drivers who park illegally in the centre of Gloucester will now stop as part of a parking review is completed. Since the start of 2008, Gloucestershire County Council has been carrying out a review the area to determine what can be done to free up more parking spaces.
The third stage of the review has just been completed and yellow lines and signs have been removed in many streets to free up more spaces. While the review has been going on, Gloucester City Council, which enforces parking on behalf of Gloucestershire County Council, agreed to a ‘light touch’ approach to ticketing people.
Now this stage of the review has been completed the light touch will stop and anyone parked on yellow lines will be ticketed.
Cllr Stan Waddington, cabinet member for enforcement has stated that more spaces have now been freed-up and parking should be easier. As such posters will be put up to make sure drivers know where they can and cannot park from now on and enforcement will be back to normal
