Get involved in the Brockworth community and have your say, that’s the message from the parish council.
The council is seeking nominations from residents either living in the parish or within three miles of the parish boundary, which could include Hucclecote, Abbeymead, Brockworth, Upton St Leonards or Churchdown. They are particularly looking for nominations from residents of Sussex Gardens and Coopers Edge, as currently these two areas do not have members on the council. They are also looking for nominations from varying age groups.
Parish chairman Pat Grant-Hudson said that being a councillor was rewarding work. She said: “It is very rewarding and it’s interesting. We deal with a whole host of situations, from planning to local issues and dealing with Tewkesbury Borough Council and highways issues. We really do need another couple of people on our council, because with the Coopers Edge development nearing completion, we’re going to be very busy.” Councillors will be able to have an involvement in developing the parish in a way the residents want.
The council will go from seven to nine seats in the May elections after an increase in the parish’s population.
There will be another open evening on March 20 from 5pm to 7pm so people can find out more. For details call the clerk Sarah Moore on 01452 612485 or email hucclecotepc@supanet.com.
