Cheltenham Community Safer Partnership in conjunction with the University of Gloucestershire have devised a seasonal approach to give advice on staying safe over the Christmas period.
An interactive on-line calendar with a door for each day BUT, unlike most calendars, behind the ‘door’ there is a question to be answered and not chocolate. On answering the question the reward is a promotional voucher. (If you answer the question wrongly you still get the reward but you will also be shown the right answer)
The question behind the first door today is “How many people in Gloucestershire were admitted to hospital with alcohol-related health problems in 2009/10?”
Cheltenham Christmas Countdown website goes live today December 1, and you can sign up by going to www.cheltenhamcountdown.co.uk and then join us on Facebook. For all the latest information visit CheltenhamCountdown.co.uk
“We hope that people will have fun opening the online advent calendar each day and using the generous discount vouchers that will be available. More importantly we hope that in doing so, they will take on board some vital messages about how to keep themselves and their property safe over the festive period.” (Inspector Paul Cruise)
The initiative was launched by a baloon race at the weekend, for more about this visit The Emergency Services Press website here-> http://espress.biz/news_article.php?id=1290791283849&headline=Gloucestershire%20Police%20-%20Balloon%20Race%20Marks%20the%20Launch%20of%20Cheltenham%E2%80%99s%20Christmas%20Countdown
