| I have
been working within the Gloucester Community in one way or another
for over twenty years, because of my interest in Sport, Fitness
and Martial Arts. I have coached people from various cultural backgrounds
and ages at Ebony Youth Club and Colwell Youth and Community Centre.
I have also interacted with our community through my passion for
music and have been resident DJ at nightclubs all over the county.
I played at the opening night of Gloucester newest and largest nightclub
"Innteraction", along side original Soul Diva Jocelyn
Brown. I have played music of all genres at pubs and clubs up and
down the county for over ten years.
In 2000, when GFM was about to air its first RSL broadcast to coincide
with Black History Month, I was approached by Gary T and asked if
I would consider presenting a show on Friday lunchtime on GFM. He
recommended me to Derrick Francis and the rest as they say is history.
I have presented weekend shows such as The Saturday Lunch Time show
and Old Skool Sundays. I now present the Lunch Time show five days
a week. I have also completed a five-day Open College Network Radio
Production Training Course, set up for the presenters by GFM.
Since October 2000, I have introduced other local DJ's to GFM and
they have gone onto present their own shows. I have interviewed
local DJ's, MC's, and producers. In 2003 I was nominated by the
management committee to interview Chevelle Franklyn, "The Dancehall
Queen" Jamaica's international singing star. The interview
took place on the 6th.August, during Jamaican Independence Day celebrations
on GFM.
My involvement with GFM has grown over the last three years. I
have been active in helping to secure funds for the broadcasts and
equipment and have got more involved with the general day to day
running of the station. I am delighted to have been co-opted onto
the management committee as vice chair and will endeavour to help
GFM reach all its aims for the future with enthusiasm and commitment.
