Matson mum Rachel Harris has started a petition as the funding for Play Gloucestershire runs out. Since it was formed in April 2008, the project has had a footfall of 32,000 children countywide.
Gloucester Team Leader Ben Morris said that he had always hoped that some one or an organisation would step in to help once the funding ran out. The Big Lottery Scheme has funded it since 2008 and they knew there would come a time when this ran out.
Although they are not the only solution to issues around young people, they are sure they have made a difference, especially in areas of greatest need.
Pip Everett, who leads the scheme, said it had been a “difficult time” with staff and parents having to come to terms with saying goodbye.
