FUNDING for a new crossing in a Linden road has been approved after years of campaigning.
The prayers of public figures and residents have been answered after Gloucestershire Highways announced it would ring fence £30,000 for the Seymour Road zebra crossing.
In 2009, the issue was raised in The Citizen by Gloucester City Councillor Mark Hobbs (Lab, Moreland), who called for a crossing to increase pedestrian safety.
Later in 2009 and into 2010, a petition was developed by Gloucestershire County Council leader Mark Hawthorne (Con, Moreland) and campaigner Lyn Ackroyd.
