Police are treating as arson a fire which destroyed a lift in Fountain Square. The fire started between 6-00 & 6-35 last Saturday. Police Sergeant Elenore Lakin, of Gloucester City Police has said that she is aware that having no lift adversely affects the lives on many of the elderly people living there but that she needs their help in apprehending the offender. They have all recieved letters encouraging people to get in touch if they have any information or if they have seen any antisocial behaviour going on round there recently. Police are liasing with Gloucester City Homes and if any one has any information on the matter they can contact PC Matt Bishop, the officer-in- charge of the case, via Gloucestershire Police on 0845 090 1234.
