Police investigating the murder of Keith Soons believe two people were involved.
36-year-old Keith Soons from Gloucester was found by a member of the public in Wellington Lane at around 8am on the morning of Saturday February 5.
He had suffered serious head injuries and was taken to hospital but sadly died later that day.
Detective Superintendent Simon Atkinson is leading the enquiry, he said: “Investigations so far have shown it is very likely that two people were involved in this incident.
“It is also thought that the attack on Keith Soons happened at around 3am.
“We know there were people in and around Wellington Road and Evesham Road at this time and we need to speak to them.
“It doesn’t matter if you don’t think you saw anything, we still need you to come forward.
“There is also a car we need to trace, we have had reports of a vehicle driving into Pittville Lawn turning around and then driving away at around 3am on Saturday February 5.
“We have no details of this car but if that was your vehicle or you have details about it please speak to us. “
Officers have released descriptions of two men they would like to speak to in connection with the enquiry.
They are described as two white men, one taller and stockier than the other.
Both aged approximately in their late thirties. The first man was wearing a dark coloured jacket and jeans. The other man, who had fairly short hair, was wearing a dark beige, short jacket and dark jeans.
D/Supt Atkinson said: “We need to speak to these two men as they may have vital information about what happened.
“If you recognise the descriptions please call us, remember you don’t have to tell us your name, we just want to know what you know.”
Officers continued investigations over the weekend by handing out leaflets in the town centre and at the Cheltenham Town game.
D/Supt Atkinson added: “The community have been very helpful and we are grateful to all those who have called us with information.
“We need everyone to be aware of this tragic case and officers will maintain a presence in the Pittville area until those responsible are brought to justice.”
