Information Sessions For Funding Advice

There is still time to get help and advice for any local organisation wanting to put in an application for a community grant.

Two  information sessions are being run where city council staff will be able to explain the new funding scheme and how to apply.

The sessions are taking place on:

Wednesday 9th February [tomorrow], 4pm to 6pm at Kingsway Community Centre

Tuesday 15th February, 5pm to 7pm at Barton Community Centre

Funding is available to voluntary and community organisations that have been running activities in Gloucester for at least 12 months. The projects  must operate to the benefit of local residents and be located within the city.

There are two types of grants available for short and longer terms schemes with funding ranging from £500 to more than £10,000 potentially available.

Councillor Kathy Williams, cabinet member for communities and neighbourhoods, commented: “ We want  to make sure that these grants go where they can do the most good for  residents.

“ So these sessions will provide useful information to local organisations wanting to put in an application. We can help make clear to them what our criteria is and put them in the best possible position to make sure they put in solid applications. At a time when local government finance is under a lot of strain it is absolutely essential that these schemes serve local needs.”

Details of the grants scheme is available on the city council website at www.gloucester.gov.uk
