The 34-strong team will be going out at 7.30pm to grit all A and B roads.
This afternoon and into this evening, light snow showers are expected to fall but forecasters are predicting this to be the last of the snow to hit Gloucestershire before Christmas. Gritters will remain out on the network as temperatures are expected to remain below freezing, causing ice on the roads. They will also be on standby with snow plough operators in case further snow does fall.
Fortunately, snowfall was not as heavy as predicted last night so the teams that were out overnight and during today were able to shift a lot of the existing snow from the roads. With the roads clearer, traffic is moving well across the county and most bus services, including both Cheltenham and Gloucester park and rides, are operating as normal.
HOWEVER
People should continue to drive carefully and ensure they wear the correct footwear if they’re out walking.
