Gloucestershire wins top construction awards

Gloucestershire County Council has won three awards from the South West Built Environment Awards.

The county council won the award for Client of the Year, as part of the Gloucestershire Construction Partnership.

Andrew Jarvis, the county council’s head of corporate building services, won the Achiever’s Award.

The Main Place in Coleford, which was built by Keir Moss, won the award for Integration and Collaborative Working between the county council and Keir Moss.

The Main Place is the new community venue in Coleford which houses a library and day care centre for adults with learning disabilities.

The first floor is home to the new youth centre, and includes a hall available for community use. Offices and meeting rooms are also on the first floor with administrative and ICT support available for small businesses and social enterprises through the Coleford Area Partnership.

Judges looked for evidence of cross-organisation working and the involvement of the local community.

Cllr Ray Theodoulou, Cabinet Member for Resources, said: “Congratulations to everyone who has contributed to Gloucestershire County Council winning these prestigious awards. The awards are a reflection of all the hard work and innovation which goes into county council building projects.”

The awards, organised by Constructing Excellence South West and Chartered Institute of Building recognise excellence in construction.

The county council found out it had won the awards at a ceremony in Bristol on Friday (11th June). All regional award winners will go forward to the Constructing Excellence national awards which will be held in London in November.
