“Following on from last year, we will be using intelligence-led targeting of previous drink drivers and we will be present in areas known to have a higher level of offences being committed.
“This year police will be concentrating more than ever on capturing those drivers who have taken drugs – illegal or prescribed
Last Christmas, every 20 minutes, night and day, a motorist was breath tested in Gloucestershire.
The “none for the road” message is working in the county, with numbers of drink-drive arrests during the period falling in recent years.
“Alcohol takes longer to leave the body than some people believe. So remember, if you are driving the morning after a night’s drinking, you must leave at least one hour for every unit.
“Any amount of alcohol – or other substances – will impair you, so please adopt the zero limit and don’t ruin Christmas.”
