Gloucester Man Sentenced To 16 Months For Robbery

A Gloucester man was sentenced yesterday (May 12) to 16 months in prison for a robbery that happened in Midland Road in November 2009.

Nathan Ashford (18), of Hurst Close, Longlevens, pleaded guilty to the charge after he robbed a 20-year-old man from Gloucester of his mobile phone while he was walking home with two friends.

Ashford was sentenced today at Gloucester Crown Court for robbery. He was given a 16-month prison sentence.

PC Wenda Croker, officer-in-charge of the case, said: “Robbery can have a devastating effect on victims and I just hope that this sentence offers some comfort to the young victims here.

“Thankfully, robbery cases are rare but I also hope that today’s sentencing will make local people feel confident we are tackling serious crime in the county and bringing successful convictions.”
