Construction of four new community fire stations and a Community Life Skills Centre will begin in April after the contract was signed today.
The contract was signed between Gloucestershire County Council and Blue 3 (Gloucestershire Fire) Limited.
In November, the county council took the decision that a contract could be entered into with Blue 3 after months of final negotiations with the private sector partner which includes local constructor Kier Moss from Cheltenham.
“Cllr Will Windsor-Clive, Cabinet Member for Community Safety, said: “This is excellent news.”
“This project is a major investment into community safety in Gloucestershire and will help save lives for generations to come.”
“Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service already does an outstanding job and this project will ensure that their work can continue with resources fit for the 21st century.”
Chief Fire Officer, Jon Hall, said: “This is a very exciting time for the Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service.”
“This project is a significant investment into community safety in Gloucestershire and I am grateful to local councillors for their faith and support in this Project at a time when many other hard decisions are having to be made”.
Included in this scheme is a Life Skills Centre which will create a unique interactive facility for schools, community and business groups and members of the public throughout Gloucestershire. More details about this & the new fire stations can be found in our news archive here:-
