Interests & Hobbies
Creativity is one of my passions whether it be event planning or decorating the home. In addition, advising ladies how to put outfits together, dress for their body shape or more importantly advising them on what not to wear.
I enjoy cooking and hosting dinner parties and also sharing my vegan recipes with friends. Other hobbies include reading, cycling and walking. I am always dancing, in the home, call it exercise.
For fun you name it I am there as long as it is clean and not dangerous. So, if you want to go bungee jumping I will go with you and watch as I am sure you will find it comforting to know someone is there holding you up in prayer as I am sure you will find it comforting to know someone is there holding you up in prayer.
Musical Background / History
I grew up to the sound of Johnny Nash: Cupid, Cream Puff and I can see clearly now. Not forgetting other artists of the 60s and 70s such as Jim Reeves, Elvis Presley and Desmond Decker just to name a few.
Today the music I listen to is quite varied: Gospel, reggae, RnB and contemporary jazz.
How did you get involved in GFM?
Sometime ago I was thinking of contacting GFM, when the time is right, regarding the possibility of hosting a show. I called Carol one day regarding something completely different and during our conversation Carol mentioned that they needed another presenter for Family Time and if I would be interested. Well the rest is history.
Achievements
I have not worked in the media before, therefore, working with GFM will be my first broadcasting experience and I am sure it will be a positive learning experience.
One of my proudest achievements was during my 10 years in the USA whilst studying theology, I founded the Rose Ministry. With the help and support of the community and church members this ministry allowed me to work with women possessing a range of health and social problems including drug, sexual and physical abuse. It was a privilege to witness the transforming change in some of the women lives through this ministry. Another initiative, on my return to the UK, was delivering seminars on domestic violence; single parenting and preaching at various churches.
Musical Aspirations
Hopefully in the next five years, if I like doing radio, I will be a successful host with a major radio station whilst volunteering my time to GFM. By this time I will be qualified in Psychodynamic Counselling and offering counselling service to individuals especially in the black and church communities. In addition, offering couple counselling and family therapy.
Most influential tracks
- He’s Been Faithful by The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir
- Hold On (A Change Is Coming) by Sounds of Blackness
- Take The Shackles off My Feet by Mary Mary
Message to GFM Community
My first time with you will be Wednesday 1 September 2010 Although somewhat nervous, I am looking forward to spending time with you. Whilst keeping within the boundaries of GFM, I hope to bring something different to the show. I want to encourage our community to read more so I am introducing a book club. Our first book for the month of September is ‘The Real Lives of Strong Black Women Transcending Myths, Reclaiming Joy’ By Toby Thompkins. Each week we will discuss a few chapters. I invite you to read the book and join me in the review each week.
