Community Award Nomination For GFM Radio Show

Aiming to dispel Myths, promote positive attitudes and bring communities closer together, Sajid Pandor and Shahed Rohman had the idea of producing a radio show aimed at the whole community.

After fifteen months preparing, practising, collecting and recording material, they approached Gloucester’s Community Radio Station, GloucesterFM Radio (GFM 96.6). A two hour slot on Sunday morning (10-00 to 12-00) was arranged and the show, first broadcast on 02 Jauary aired each Sunday throughout January.

Well Recieved By The Whole Community

Sajid has confirmed that the positive feedback demonstrates that the broadcast has been well recieved, not only throughout the Muslem Community, but also by many non Muslems. Pleased by the way that the sensible & non-extremist approach of the show has already begun to break down misconceptions of the mainstream, peaceful and integrated Islam community in Gloucester, regular listener, Yacoob Patel nominated the show for a Heart of Gloucestershire Community Award.
The show is well designed to win over the hearts and minds of ALL listeners, regardless of faith.

Exceeded Expectations
Gloucester FM Radio Chairman, Derrick Francis, stated that The programme has embraced GFM’s ethos to “empower, educate and entertain” he also also added that they deserved the recognition for the hard work and dedication given to ensure listeners are provided with music, news information and advice on Sunday mornings. The show had exceded all expectations.

Thousands Of Listeners

Yacoob Patel also added that Sajid Pandor and Shahed Rohman had had worked tirelessly in their own time with over 50 ethnic groups to bring people together. Their show is already pulling in listeners from as far away as London.

The show returns during the month of March, IQRA means read, hence the theme of empowerment and understanding through knowledge.
