Anyone who recognises the man should call Gloucestershire Police on 0845 090 1234, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting incident 120 of January 27.
The fraudster asked the victim if he would be willing to assist a friend who had just come out of hospital in Gloucester. The man told the victim he needed money to buy a ticket home. The victim agreed to help and went to Gloucester Railway Station, where he met a man he believed was the friend in need. The man then came up with a number of elaborate reasons he needed more money, following the victim to a cashpoint and even turning up on the victim’s doorstep the day after to ask for more cash.
The money, of course, was never returned.
