People across Gloucestershire are being encouraged to build a circle of trusted family, friends, services and organisations to help them live independently for longer.
The Your Circle website – www.yourcircle.org.uk – can help people make the most of the support available in Gloucestershire, from keeping healthy to help to live independently at home.
Carmine Festa, 81, lives at home in Gloucester with his daughter and granddaughter.
He has a circle of support includes his daughter, Lucia Dedear, and granddaughter, care assistants, friends from the local Italian community, home adaptations and respite care at a local care home. These trusted people and services working together have allowed Carmine to continue to live at home.
Cllr Tony Hicks, Cabinet member for adult social care, said: “Your Circle is working for Carmine and Lucia and we would urge everyone to pick up a leaflet outlining the simple steps to building their circle of support. This new approach focuses on prevention and early intervention – keeping people healthier, happier and living within their own home for longer and should delay the onset of more serious problems.
“Supporting older and vulnerable people remains a top priority, and we are protecting this budget but with demand rising, we will need to work differently.”
Organisations and individuals can publicise their own advice and support services and link to their website through the Your Circle website. You can log-in to add and manage your own entries using the ‘Add Entry’ from the top menu bar. Visit www.yourcircle.org.uk or email yourcircle@gloucestershire.gov.uk.
