Are YOU Registered To Vote In May Elections??

A reminder has been given to residents who want to have their say in the upcoming elections to make sure their names are on the electoral register.

Notices of Referendum and Gloucester city elections have been Posted on Friday 25th March 2011, which kicks off the election timetable.

Local elections will take place in the city on May 5th and Notices for candidates in the 11 wards up for election have been posted throughout the city.

In order to vote in the Referendum or Gloucester City Council elections you must be registered to vote.

Residents who wish to apply to vote by post need to ensure completed forms are with the elections office by 5pm on Thursday 14th April.

Residents wanting to apply to vote by proxy need to ensure completed forms are with the elections office, by 5pm on Thursday 21st April.

The local elections will also be combined with a national referendum on whether to adopt the Alternative Vote System for future Parliamentary Elections.

STANDING FOR ELECTION

Anyone who wants to stand for election can get a nomination pack from the elections office and nominations can be handed into the team from 10am on Monday 28th March and will close at 12noon on 4 April.

The Statement of persons nominated will be posted on Wednesday 6th April and The Notice of Poll and situation of polling stations will be published on Friday 8th April.
