From Monday, (21st February) engineers will start removing the old carriageway and replacing with a new surface.
In order for the resurfacing to be carried out, there will be no access from and onto Ladybellegate Street at the junction with Commercial Road
However Ladybellegate Street will remain open from the other end.
Commercial Road will be operating with two-way traffic lights in order to minimise disruption.
The temporary bus stop in Ladybellegate Street will be suspended in both directions from Monday, but Waterwells bound buses will stop there from Monday 28th February.
Park and Ride buses travelling southbound will use the Quay and Commercial Road as they have been doing recently with stops in Westgate Street and Southgate Street.
Northbound buses will temporarily gain access to Southgate Street across the Square, bringing the new bus stop in Southgate Street into operation.
From 23rd February, we shall concentrate on the Southgate Street and Parliament Street junction using three-way traffic lights to keep one lane open.
The number 10 Service from Tuffley will be diverted along Spa Road and Brunswick Road.
Both Councillor Stan Waddington and Frank Heggs, the principle engineer, both advise that this final phase is likely to have a greater impact so if possible drivers should find an alternative route.
Councillor Waddington also stressed the importance of the project and his pleasure at the final phase being entered into. He also understands people’s frustration at the hold-ups caused by circumstances out of their control. Gloucestershire County Council work should finish by March 28th, weather permitting: see more–>Final phase for Linkages work
