A Place To Turn To After Bereavement.

Alan James, who lost his wife, and daughter, Kelly in the space of a few months, recommends turning to Joy Through Tears, a bereavement support group in Tredworth, who he heard about through a chance meeting. He finds it a help being able to talk about things and being in a position where you can talk about the issues you have with people that are in the same boat.

Allan, who also lives with his son Simon and is the sole carer for Kelly’s daughter Deanna, seven also said “As a man especially, I think it can be hard to talk to people about being upset. You can feel embarrassed if you let your guard down and get upset in front of friends and family when you are bereaved.

“But at the group you can talk to people who know what you are going through because they are going through it too or have been there before.”.

The Group used to meet at Kingfisher Church in Gloucester but a new group will be launched at Tredworth Community Suite, at Tredworth Junior School. The first meeting is on January 7th. meetings are Friday mornings from 10am until 11.45am.

Counsellor Judith Bell  said “The course is suitable for people who are facing bereavement, recently bereaved, and for those whose bereavement may have occurred some time ago.” She also states that it is open to everyone.
